Wayne Rooney reportedly trying new tactic to fix his marriage

But can pregnant Coleen forgive him?

Desperate Wayne Rooney has apparently stepped up his charm offensive in an effort to recapture the magic in his marriage to wife Coleen.

According to The Sun the Everton football ace has been taking Coleen, who’s pregnant with the couple’s fourth child, out on the town on secret dates specially chosen to remind her of the good times they’ve shared.

And he wooed her with a trip to the cinema where they went on their first date – which was a trip to see Austin Powers, back when the pair were still at school.

They were reportedly seen at the cinema on a family outing last weekend and someone who saw them later tweeted: “Hi @ColeenRoo and @WayneRooney, lovely meeting you yesterday, sorry baby was such a grump.”

A source told The Sun: “Coleen is still really angry with Wayne, so he’s pretty quiet at home and keeping his head down.

“But he has been gently trying to show how much he loves her by taking her out on the quiet, so they have been to the cinema together, which is something they really enjoy doing.”

They added that Wayne is hoping everything will be “back to normal by Christmas.”

Coleen is said to still be angry with her husband after his drink driving antics. And the fact that Wayne was driving another woman’s car – with her in the passenger seat –  when he was arrested isn’t helping her get over the whole thing.

The Sun even claimed the heartbroken wag was considering a divorce after the woman, Laura Simpson, said she and Wayne had “kissed and hugged”.

While Wayne is keeping his head down at home, he’s clearly determined to win back his wife’s heart after he allegedly issued her with an ultimatum earlier this month.

He supposedly told Coleen he’d give up his nights out with his mates if she stopped going on so many holidays.

Wayne was arrested for drink driving on September 1, and pleaded guilty to the charges at Stockport Magistrates Court on September 18.

He was sentenced to a two-year driving ban, and a 12-month community order with 120 hours of unpaid work. And he was also said to be fined two weeks’ wages by his club, Everton FC – which is thought to be about £300,000.

“I want to apologise to all the fans and everyone else who has followed and supported me throughout my career,” Wayne said in a statement.

And finally it looks like he’s trying hard to apologise to Coleen, too.
