Ed Sheeran is one of the most connected men in music with everyone from Elton John, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles on speed dial, so it’s unlikely he would have a problem finding a musical act for his upcoming wedding.

But bizarrely Wayne Rooney has offered to sing him a song – whether the 26-year-old wants him to or not!

According to the Daily Star, the footballing ace, who is in the running to be Ed’s best man, reportedly texted him to warn him of his plan to perform.

Ed proposed to long-term girlfriend Cherry Seaborn over Christmas and the wedding is set to be a who’s who in showbiz.

The pair, who met in school, have been dating since 2015. He revealed to his 18 million followers that they had got engaged sharing a picture of them saying: “Got myself a fiance before new year. We are very happy and in love and our cats are chuffed as well xx.”

Both Ed and Wayne are fans of belting out a tune at their pals weddings and have been filmed duetting together.

The 32-year-old, who is married to Coleen Rooney, was first filmed singing with Ed in 2014 in Manchester. The following year they were caught on camera singing Robbie William’s hit Angels in a bar in New York.

He also sang at former Manchester United team mate Chris Smalling’s nuptials in June.

But while Ed has sold millions of records and won a legion of fans with his dulcet tones, the Everton star isn’t quite so tuneful.

A source told the Daily Star: “Wayne is totally tuneless and has a terrible voice. Ed thinks that is part of his charm when he launches into surprise karaoke sessions on nights out and jumps up at friends’ weddings to sing.

“Wayne told him he would be doing the same at Ed’s wedding, whether he likes it or not. He began by asking Ed to do a duet with him on stage in front of all the guests.

“But when Ed replied, joking that he might leave the gig to professionals, Wayne told him he will be jumping on stage to sing anyway.

“Wayne is insisting he won’t be put off and will undoubtedly be jumping up for a surprise song on the big day as the booze is going to be flowing.”

Ed is thought to be considering performers including Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid, who co-wrote Ed’s latest album, Beyonce, pal Ellie Goulding, Justin Bieber and Harry Styles to perform on his big day.
