Victoria’s Jenna Coleman shocks fans with new blonde hairdo for BBC drama The Cry

She's all ready for an adventure Down Under

As a certain royal icon, Jenna Coleman is usually seen wearing a regal brunette bun.

But the Victoria star gave her fans a shock today when she shared a picture on Instagram that showed her with new BLONDE locks.

The 31-year-old took a selfie while flying to Australia, where she’ll be filming a new BBC drama series, The Cry.

And the funky new ‘do she was sporting left her followers shocked but (mostly) delighted.

The Blackpool-born actress didn’t flag up the fact that she’d had her hair coloured, simply writing: “Downunder #TheCry.”

But loads of her 708,000 followers picked up on the new look, and most were impressed.

One fan raved: “Love your hair pretty girl!! And welcome to Aus.”

Another added: “LOVE the hair!!”

And a third person told her: “You’re killin that blonde.”

But in among the celebratory messages, there were a few dissenting voices.

One unimpressed follower gasped: “Noooooo, brunette is best.”

And another dismissed the new style by saying: “Sorry @jenna_coleman, the blonde isn’t working.”

A four-part psychological thriller, The Cry will be screened later this year on BBC One.

In it, Jenna will play a young mum who faces intense public scrutiny after her baby is abducted from a rural Australian town. Her husband will be played by Aussie film actor Ewen Leslie.

As for Victoria, the former Emmerdale actress has signed up for a third series, which is currently in development.

But anyone hoping to see more sexy scenes may well be disappointed.

Writer Daisy Goodwin revealed at the launch of the series two DVD: “[Victoria] has six children in eight years – which is a lot – and there are some gaps, so I wonder whether there may have been some withholding [of sex] on both sides.

“That’s certainly something I’m going to explore in series three.”
