Trisha Goddard starts dating again after secret divorce from Peter Gianfrancesco

She's finally ready to start a new chapter in her life

Trisha Goddard has revealed she quietly separated from third husband Peter Gianfrancesco last year.

The talk show host had been married to psychotherapist Peter for almost 20 years before they secretly divorced in 2017.

And now, the 60-year-old has begun dating once again.

In an interview with the new issue of Hello! magazine, Trisha explained how her relationship with Peter began to change after she recovered from breast cancer.

After praising Peter for supporting her during her illness, Trisha said as she “got stronger and was therefore no longer reliant on him” she noticed a change in their relationship.

“Our relationship was a rollercoaster,” she said.

“One day things were fine between us – great even. The next they were terrible – the arguments, the detachment, there were real lows.”

Trisha and Peter’s split will no doubt come as a shock to fans, as the chat show queen has frequently lavished praise on her former husband.

In 2014, she told The Guardian: “My marriage to Peter is a partnership. We learn from each other all the time. True intimacy is about honest communication, listening and compromise. Throw in friendship as a cornerstone, laughter and the ability to be playful, and it’s a match made in realistic heaven.”

Trisha has also publicly thanked Peter for his support and love during her breast cancer battle. She was diagnosed with the disease in 2008 and announced she was in remission at the end of that year.

“Peter was my number one supporter of course. He helped me still be a mum and do the important mum things that I wanted to do even when unwell,” she said.

Trisha explained to Hello! magazine that she initially kept her wedding ring on even after the divorce, as she wanted to keep what was happening between her and Peter private.

But now the ring is off and the star is dating again – but keeping her new partner’s identity a secret.

She would only say: “I have somebody who loves that I laugh loud and loves that I wear crazy clothes and for the first time, in a very long time, I feel womanly, beautiful and sexy.”

Trisha was previously married to politician Robert Nesdale; they wed in Australia in 1985 but their union ended when Robert revealed he was gay. Tragically, he later died of AIDS.

The television star was then married to producer Mark Grieve, the father of her two children, before they divorced.
