The couple shared a family picture on Instagram

On the surface, it’s an adorable, festive family photo – but look closer, and you’ll notice Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black are actually selling, er, nappies.

Fans of the Olympic diver and his filmmaker husband were divided over their latest Instagram post, where they shared a sweet snap of their six-month-old son, Robbie.

In fact, some accused them of selling out, and “using” their own baby to “flog nappies”.

Clearly marked as an advert with Pampers, Tom captioned the adorable picture: “LOOK AT THOSE LEGS! Our first family Christmas.

“Having Robbie in our lives this year is going to be so magical, our Christmas family traditions will be passed down another generation.”

The 24-year-old, who announced the arrival of their little boy in June, then added: “Over the past few months and in the run up to Christmas we’ve been using the Pure Protection nappies from @Pampersuk_ire to keep Robbie comfortable.

“When the weather gets cold, it can irritate skin and The Pure Protection nappies are made with premium cotton and plant based materials 🌿 and are kind to the skin and soft to the touch.. perfect for snuggles by the Christmas tree #ad.”

Dustin, 44, shared the same post and many of their followers slammed the move, writing: “Using your son to make money. You should be ashamed. Especially as you’re both high earners anyway 😡.”

Another scolded: “It’s a cute photo and I’m happy for you, but to turn it into a cheap adverting post is very disappointing.”

A third commented: “Somehow I don’t think the two of them are struggling for money. It does feel a lot exploitive. Love seeing photos like this. Can do without the selling.”

While a fourth blasted: “Nothing these two won’t sell.”

Others were less negative, writing: “Happy family, enjoy your Christmas 😍❤️💖💖.”

A second praised the photo: “Aw cute x happy for you both 😘.”

A third added: “He’s a lucky boy to grow up with not one but two amazing dads.”

Some even defended the move, writing: “I really don’t understand why people are hating on this. Like, leave them alone. It’s funny how everyone is hating on Tom for doing the ad but whenever any other celebs or YouTubers do it, it’s absolutely fine?? I think you people just need to stay out of his business and just let Tom do what he’s gotta to to provide for his baby.”

ED! has contacted representatives for Tom for comment.
