Carson Daly Upset After New Year's Eve Show Is Canceled

There will be one less countdown show.

Today show host Carson Daly won't be in Times Square for the big ball drop on New Year's Eve, and he's not happy about it.

Carson has hosted NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly since 2003, but this year's show will not be happening.

He posted on Instagram Sunday that he's "bummed" about the situation, explaining, "Our #newyearseve show got preempted (taken off) for regular Sunday night NFL game on NBC b/c NYeve falls on a Sunday, makes sense."

"But then, NFL cancels the NBC prime time game. Announced Christmas am. (mon) By tues I’m trying to get my show back on but I’m told on wed that there’s not enough time. SO, for only the 2nd time since 1998 I will not be in #timessquare.#bummed"

According to NBC listings, there will be no special New Year's Eve programming tonight, but fans can still catch the big Times Square ball drop on ABC's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest.

Other New Year's Eve Show options include Fox’s New Year’s Eve with Steve Harvey, Live from Times Square, and CNN's countdown with host Anderson Cooper, joined this year by Watch What Happens Live host Andy Cohen.
