'The View' Co-Host Denies Getting 'Personal' in On-Air Spat

Things got tense on The View on Monday, enough so that one co-host told another, "It's not personal."

The ladies discussed the fact that Vice President Mike Pence didn't stand when the unified Korean delegation walked into the stadium at the Opening Ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea on Friday.

In a rare move, North and South Korea joined together to compete under one flag at the Olympics, despite recent threats of nuclear war from North Korea.

Whoopi Goldberg believed it was wrong for the Vice President to protest North Korea's involvement by staying seated. "If you're in Korea, you need to stand up. You need to stand up and show respect," she said.

While Sunny Hostin, Joy Behar and guest co-host Sherri Shepherd all agreed with Whoopi, conservative Meghan McCain dropped a bombshell.

"I gotta tell you Whoopi, I think if I were there, I wouldn't have stood either. I have such a problem with what's going on in North Korea," Meghan said.

"North Korea is one of the worst human rights violators, it's one of the most repressive countries," Meghan pointed out.

When Whoopi claimed that the United States has supported similar regimes, Sunny chimed in saying, "Like Russia."

Joy pointed out, "All I hear from Trump is how great Russia is. He never says a bad word about Putin. That really is un-American to me."

Meghan seemed to think Joy was calling her out, replying, "But, Joy, you know me. You know that I never defend anything having to do with Russia."

"I'm not putting it on you. It's not personal," Joy replied.

Since Meghan joined The View last fall, she and Joy have gone at it regularly over their very different political views, and fans rarely seem to take Meghan's side.

Commenters on The View's Facebook page had a lot to say about Meghan following the discussion.

One viewer wrote, "She is rude, pushy, arrogant and opinionated. She interrupts everyone including Whoopi and believes she has all the answers. I block her out when she speaks now and only listen to the others."

Another agreed, adding, "I'm going to have to stop watching this show because of Meghan McCain. She throws out indirect insults then gets so nasty with the other co-host."

A different disagreed entirely, commenting, "To be fair The View has to have a hostess to represent the Republican Party or it would be too one sided. I can't think of a better person to have on that show than Meghan. She is doing a wonderful job."

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
