Susanna Reid hits back at trolls who accused her of hiding her ‘birthmark’

An unfiltered photo wasn't enough for one viewer

Susanna Reid has responded to a twitter troll who accused her of trying to hide a “skin blemish” in a make-up free photo the Good Morning Britain host had shared on the show.

The original image showed two shots of Susanna side by side, one fully made up and processed, and the other, plain-faced and unfiltered.

“You don’t look like the girl in the magazine because the girl in the magazine doesn’t look like the girl in the magazine,” she said, as she revealed the contrast between the shots.

The image was shown as part of a segment on whether companies bear a responsibility to divulge whether they’re using airbrushed or altered images.

The Good Morning Britain twitter account shared the image again, along with Susanna’s quote – but it wasn’t enough for one twitter user.

“I would say well done if she had shown the birthmark like skin blemish on her right cheek instead of angling the photo so you can’t see it,” the tweeter said, going on to say it was manipulative of Susanna to post an unfiltered pic that still hid the offending mark.

But Susanna was quick to respond, posting a second shot with a close up of the blemish in question – stating that it is chloasma.

“This is the ‘birthmark’ on my face – actually chloasma – pigmentation brought on in my second pregnancy of which I’m actually v proud!”

Fans were quick to respond in support of Susanna’s post, with many sharing stories of their own, similar marks.

“I also have this at the side of my eyes and all over my forehead due to my pregnancy,” said one user, while another claimed she had one for each child: “I have had 5 pregnancies, each one leaving me with additional chloasma, I’m quite accepting that mother nature intended me to have this xx”

Susanna’s selfie critique did not respond to the second post, but co-host Piers Morgan did – sharing a commonly posted shot of himself, perhaps showing more than anyone is particularly keen to see – and one that is definitely not unfiltered.
