Susanna Reid hits back at critics in furious Twitter rant

Good on her!

Susanna Reid has said her skin “just gets thicker by the second” as she hit back at critics on social media.

The Good Morning Britain presenter took to Twitter on Monday to defend her co-star Piers Morgan over his interview with President Donald Trump.

Some viewers accused Piers, 53, of taking it easy on Trump in comparison to the other people he’s interviewed.

She first tweeted: “To all journos furious about the @piersmorgan interview with Trump: you can pat yourselves on the back for the brilliant interview you didn’t do with the President.

“Or you can watch the interview, deconstruct it and point out where he’s wrong. I chose the 2nd option.”

Shortly after, Susanna responded to critics who criticised her for being both “too opinionated and too quiet”.

She wrote: “Getting hit from left and right. Criticised for being too opinionated … and too quiet.

“Accused of being a snowflake and a c—. Too liberal … too enabling, ‘good-looking, but…’ My skin just gets thicker by the second.

“And we do it all again tomorrow @gmb 6am.”

She then hit out at critics urging her to leave her job hosting the breakfast show.

Susanna, 47, wrote: “Half my critics think I should leave MY paid employment because THEY take issue with the person sitting next to me.

“The other half think I should leave, BECAUSE I take issue with the person sitting next to me. I’m staying right where I am.”

Piers responded to Susanna’s tweet saying: “And the vast majority of our viewers love what we do which is why our ratings are flying…”

Piers and Susanna have been hosting Good Morning Britain since 2015.

But, despite their friendship now, Susanna recently admitted she was reluctant to work alongside Piers at first.

Last month, Susanna told the Radio Times that she feels in a “constant battle” with Piers on the programme.

She said: “It’s a constant battle for airtime. Sometimes I open my mouth to ask a question and hear Piers’s voice come out – so you can’t help but go into battle with him every morning.

“I know it’s not personal. But there was a time when I took this a lot more seriously, and personally, than I do now.”

Susanna added: “You couldn’t describe Piers as lovable. And I don’t think everybody necessarily wants a double espresso shot into their veins in the morning.

“Some people want a nice cup of tea. And there is absolutely a role for both.”
