Susanna Reid delights fans by sharing rare photo of lookalike mum

She paid tribute to her "amazing" mum

Susanna Reid paid a loving tribute to her mother, Sue, as she honoured the NHS’ 70th birthday.

The Good Morning Britain host, 47, shared a black-and-white throwback photo of her mum when she was a nurse.

Susanna told her fans that her “amazing” mum trained as a nurse almost 60 years ago.

She wrote: “70 years of the NHS and almost 60 years since my amazing Mum trained as a nurse.

“She’s also been a Health Visitor, an editor at Nursing Times, and now – in her 70s – is still a volunteer helping sick children on wards.”

Fans were in awe of Sue and called Susanna her mum’s double.

One person said: “You can tell where you inherited your looks from,” while another commented: “Wow you could be twins.”

A third added: “Beautiful picture Susanna! Bet you’re so proud of your mum.”

“This is amazing!!! What an incredible story and photo,” a fourth gushed.

Two years ago, Sue joined Susanna on Good Morning Britain because her daughter had nominated her for the show’s Health Star Awards.

But the conversation went off topic when Susanna’s co-star Piers Morgan was curious to know what Susanna was like as a child.

Sue said: “She was lovely until she was 13. She was absolutely wonderful. She was a joy.

“When she was 13, overnight she turned absolutely horrible for two years.”

As Susanna jokingly pulled a sad face to the camera, Sue continued: “When she was 15 we sort of said, ‘look hang on a minute either we’re going to get on well and support each other or we’re going to make each other’s lives hell’ and we’ve been best friends ever since.

“I’m proud of her.”

The show’s Health Star Awards recognised the best in British healthcare and, for Susanna it was her mum.

She told her mum: “You have never stopped looking after people and you’ve always been on the phone to me.

“My youngest child, whenever something goes wrong with the health in our family, he says, ‘phone Grandma, she’ll know what to do.’ So you are my health star.”
