Strictly’s Danny John-Jules reportedly dropped from nationwide tour after bullying row

A spokesperson for Danny confirmed he would not be part of the tour

Strictly Come Dancing star Danny John-Jules will not be taking part in the show’s nationwide tour when it gets underway in the new year.

The 58-year-old actor, best known for playing Cat in sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf, was voted off Strictly in the wake of claims he bullied his dance partner.

Danny denied suggestions he made Amy Dowden, 27, cry by shouting and swearing at her during rehearsals, claiming that the rumours were part of a “vendetta” and accusing the BBC of bullying him.

According to The Mirror, Danny’s friends say he had a change of heart after leaving Strictly and wanted to join the tour in January.

One source said: “Danny felt not going back would only have fuelled suggestions he and Amy had real problems.”

But Danny’s reportedly been left off the list for the tour, which kicks off in Birmingham on January 18.

A spokesman for Strictly said the show was not responsible for the tour line-up, while Danny’s representatives also confirmed the actor would not be making an appearance.

Dr Ranj Singh, Stacey Dooley and Joe Sugg are all confirmed for the tour so far.

Danny is not the only contestant to be dropped from the list; comic Seann Walsh, 32, was also reportedly barred after he was caught snogging his married dance partner Katya.

Responding to the bullying claims, Danny said they came from people determined to see him fail.

He also tweeted to Amy and thanked her for inspiring him during his stint on the show.

When he appeared on Lorraine last month, Danny admitted he rarely goes out to socialise with his Strictly co-stars after the performances because the dancing tires him out.
