Strictly Come Dancing star ties the knot on a beach Down Under

The couple wed five years after a chance meeting

Strictly Come Dancing beauty Natalie Lowe has married her boyfriend of five years in a romantic beach ceremony in her native Australia.

Natalie, 37, met James Knibbs by chance on a train journey to Leeds which she later described as ‘fate’.

At the time she had been forced to pull out of the hit show due to a leg injury, so was travelling to a meeting instead.

The couple got engaged in 2015 and married on Balmoral Beach in Sydney, close to where Natalie used to work as a beauty therapist in her home city.

Guests included former Strictly celebrity contestants Judy Murray and Deborah Meadon, and Natalie’s former dance partner Ian Waite, who read a poem he wrote with his husband Drew Merriman at the service.

Natalie said the poem was:”Extremely moving, funny and heartfelt.”

Natalie told Hello! magazine : “He [James] looked so handsome. I didn’t want to look up [as I walked down the aisle] as I didn’t want to be a blubbering mess before I reached him.”

The blonde dancer wore a strapless gown with a fitted bodice and a fishtail skirt, and groom James married wearing navy blue suit.

The newlyweds held their reception at the Public Dining Room restaurant and walked into the celebrations to the strains of the Top Gun theme tune Danger Zone.

Natalie added: “James and I love that film and we didn’t want to take ourselves too seriously.

“The whole day was filled with lots of laughter, singing and dancing.”

Natalie left Strictly last May after seven years, saying :”I’ll be forever grateful for the amazing time, opportunities and memories that Strictly has created for me. My time on the programme has been everything that I dreamed it would be, and more.”
