It’s the first time all five girls – Victoria, Melanie Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Geri and Melanie Brown – have been seen together since 2012.

A short clip shared to Instagram Stories by Victoria showed her sitting with Mel C, Emma and Mel B on a sofa, while Geri stood nearby holding baby son Monty and waving at the camera.

Then an incredibly exciting statement was released confirming the iconic group were “exploring some incredible new opportunities together”.

There’s no word yet on what these opportunities might be, but we’ll take what we can get, right?

The full statement read: “We have enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching up and reminiscing about the amazing times we have spent together.

“We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for the Spice Girls. The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together.

“We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of the Spice Girls while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations.”

Needless to say, the sight of Posh, Scary, Baby, Ginger and Sporty all back in the same room sent their fan base into absolute meltdown.

The reunion photo posted to Victoria’s Instagram garnered more than 1.5 million likes in less than a day, alongside gushing and excited comments.

One fan wrote: “This picture brings me life. Literal life. I’m framing this.”

Another said: “This reunion would literally make my entire life.”

A third added: “Literally made me the happiest person on earth!!!”

And a fourth chimed in: “But can we have a tour? Pretty please?! Bring #GIRLPOWER Back!”

Spice Girls, who were joined by manager Simon Fuller at the meeting yesterday, shot to fame in 1996 with catchy song Wannabe.

They went on to become the best-selling girl band of all time with a string of chart hits, their own movie, Spice World, global fame and, basically, just dominating late ’90s pop for many of us. (Union Jack dress, platforms and double bun hairstyles, we’re looking at you!

Geri sent shockwaves through fans in 1998 when she quit the band, leaving Mel C, Mel B, Victoria and Emma to continue as a foursome until 2000.

They thrilled fans by reuniting for a tour and new music in 2007, and performing at the London Olympics 2012 Closing Ceremony.
