Sky News presenter Colin Brazier reveals wife lost battle with breast cancer

Shares heartbreaking tweet

Sky News presenter Colin Brazier has revealed that after five years, his wife Jo has lost her fight with breast cancer. She was 55.

The presenter announced her death via his twitter account, with a photo of Jo and three children of the couple’s six children.

The tweet read simply “Jo Brazier. Wife. Mother. Friend. Died peacefully July 6th 2018, aged 55.”

Jo was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer five years ago, and has been battling the disease ever since.

The announcement comes just days after Colin sent out a tweet asking for prayers and support for Jo.

“Please pray tonight for my magnificent darling wife, Jo Brazier. AMDG,” he said.

AMDG stands for the Latin expression “Ad maiorem Dei gloriam,” – which means “To the greater glory of God.”

Colin had previously written about how his family was facing up to Jo’s terminal diagnosis for the Catholic Herald.

“Like many mothers, she is grateful for the time she has had since first being diagnosed with breast cancer,” he wrote.

He went on to say that he and Jo had hoped that the five year journey through cancer would leave their children “less vulnerable to the enormous and life-shattering shock of losing their mother.”

Referencing A. A. Gill, he commented that there is a benefit to knowing death is drawing near, as that knowledge provides time to say your goodbyes.

“It is actually a great privilege to have time to prepare for Last Things,” he wrote.

He made a point of criticising Royal Holloway College, who, he claims, behaved insensitively to his eldest daughter when she requested time off to be with her mother.

“She faced a difficult choice: drop out and forfeit all the work she’s done, or be absent from her mother’s side during what may be the final few weeks of her life,” Colin wrote.

He confirmed that his daughter had chosen to halt her studies, in favour of spending time with her family.

Colin and Jo had celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary last December.
