Actor Ryan Thomas found himself at the centre of a brilliant case of mistaken identity yesterday when a fan tweeted a picture of him meeting the Coronation Street and Neighbours star – except it wasnt actually him!
The fan was completely convinced that he’d met Ryan on a night out on Friday, and took to social media to share his picture with the star on Saturday.
He told his followers that ‘Ryan’ was a: “Top bloke who probably can’t remember a minute of last night,” suggesting that the fake Ryan might have been a little worse for wear, shall we say.
We’re not sure exactly how many drinks were consumed on the night out, but that’s definitely not Ryan Thomas!

Fans of the actor responded to the tweet instantly correcting the hoodwinked fan…
And even Ryan himself got involved, confirming that the person in the photo definitely wasn’t him.
Ryan’s followers replied to the star’s tweet in their hundreds, all finding the gaff hilarious.
The fan tricked into thinking he’d met the famous Thomas brother then responded to Ryan’s tweet claiming: “If it’s not, then it makes it all the funnier while I’m struggling with survival,” hinting that perhaps he was indeed suffering after a particularly heavy night.
Another Twitter user then responded to that tweet with: “I like the way you’re still saying ‘if’ like there’s still a chance it’s Ryan.”

But while the hilarious mix up takes Twitter by storm, there’s just one question that remains unanswered… who exactly is Ryan’s not-so-convincing lookalike?
