The father of the little page boy who almost stole the show at the royal wedding has spoken out about the little boy’s big moment.

Twins Brian and John Mulroney, seven, were chosen to carry The Duchess of Sussex’s veil as she walked down the aisle at St. George’s Chapel on Saturday.

Right before she began the journey, Brian was caught on camera breaking into a huge grin just as trumpets began to play to signal Meghan’s entrance.

Canadian television host Ben returned to his show, Your Morning, on Tuesday, where he said little Brian had been reacting to hearing trumpets for the first time.

He explained: “I asked him and he said he’d never heard a trumpet before. And I think when he walked in, I think he saw all the people there and the flowers — none of that was there during the rehearsal.”

Ben said he and wife Jessica – who is Meghan’s best friend – had been sitting so close to the front of the chapel they didn’t see the children until the very end of their walk.

The couple’s daughter Ivy, four, was a bridesmaid.

Proud friend. Proud mom.

Ben said: “There had been so much talk about getting it right with the rehearsals and these kids are so young that there was a lot of worry that it wouldn’t get done right.

“But they were having so much fun with it. And that, to me, was the thing that gave me the most pride, that we didn’t put so much pressure on them that this wasn’t joyful for them.

Ben said the children in the bridal party – who included Prince George and Princess Charlotte – were encouraged to have fun and wave back when people waved at them.

He also said the kids all got to know each other during the rehearsals and made good friends.

“The kids had a chance to get to know each other a little bit during these rehearsals and get together, so they sort of come together in a little bit of a club before this happened. Jasper, who was the tallest of those page boys, told his dad afterwards, ‘I really like those Canadian boys very much.'”

After the wedding, Ben posted a photo to Instagram showing Brian’s joyous face and joked: “Ok, Brian. You’re getting a TV in your room for the summer.”
