'Storm Chasers' Star Passes Away Suddenly at 38

He was so young.

Joel Taylor, who starred in the Discovery reality series Storm Chasers, has passed away.

Joel, who was only 38, died while aboard a Royal Carribean Cruise ship that was docked in Puerto Rico, according to The Blast. A cause of death has not yet been determined.

The site reports that an autopsy is currently underway in Puerto Rico.

According to The Blast, the cruise ship had been rented by a private company.A rep for Royal Carribean said in a statement, “We extend our most sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the 38-year-old male guest from the United States who died while onboard Harmony of the Seas."

The statement continued, "On January 23, 2018, the guest was found unresponsive in his cabin. As is our standard procedure, law enforcement was notified and responded to the ship when it arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico."

A representative for Joel's family told The Blast, "We ask for your understanding during this difficult time and your respect for the family while they deal with the loss of their son."

Joel's best friend and former co-star Reed Timmer, who is now a meteorologist for Accuweather, took to Twitter to express his grief.

He wrote, "RIP my best friend and storm chasing partner, Joel Taylor. I am shocked and absolutely devastated by the loss of my incredible, caring friend.

On Storm Chasers, which ran from 2008-2012, the friends chased dangerous storms all around the U.S., with Joel driving their storm-chasing vehicle known as the Dominator.

Reed wrote on Twitter of Joel, "No one better at dominating back roads behind the wheel."
