Public fury as Rolf Harris set for early release from jail

The public think it is outrageous that the convicted paedophile is being released early

| Updated:

The public are up in arms after it was revealed that Rolf Harris is due to be freed from jail in six weeks time.

This will mean that he will have served just HALF of his sentence for 12 indecent assaults against four girls between 1968 and 1986.

According to reports the 87-year old paedophile will walk out of Stafford prison in the third week of June and will rush to his poorly wife’s side.

“Rolf is now counting down the days. He isn’t enjoying jail life at all and is desperate to get out, ” a source told the Sunday People.

“His wife Alwen is 85 and has been in failing health, so he wants to be reunited with her as soon as possible.”

But the news has been met with much criticism from the great British public.

One Tweeter called Jack Dawkins merely said: “Deport”

Another, Olwyn Hope, thought about the families of those who were abused by Harris.

“Imagine how this must make their victims feel.”

Meanwhile others branded the move as a “travesty of justice” and “ridiculous”  with another tweeter maintaining that people like Harris “should be serving their whole sentence, not half”!

Another angry social media critic sniped: “Well after what he did, the justice in this land is so crap. He was proven to be a sex monster. What is next? Selling his story it stinks.”

Before his release date, Harris, who was cleared of three sex assaults in February, is set to face another crown court trial, accused of sex offences – if found guilty, he could face an extended time behind bars.
