Proud uncle David Beckham shares pic with baby niece

Peggy has just turned one

David Beckham has shared an adorable picture of himself and his baby niece to mark her first birthday.

The image shared on Instagram shows the former football star holding Peggy, the daughter of his sister Joanne, in his arms.

The proud uncle is wearing a Father Christmas hat in the festive snap.

“Happy 1st Birthday to this gorgeous little one…” wrote the father-of-four.

“Cannot believe Peggy is 1 already… Hope she has the most amazing day and Jo don’t give her to much cake, she is still a little young.

“Sorry i can’t be there @joannebeckham.”

Aww, he’s such an adorable family man… but not beyond the bizarre criticism of social media commentators.

Earlier this month, David’s ‘fans’ aired their disapproval at him giving his seven-year-old daughter Harper a peck on the lips.

The former footballer shared the sweet shot, which showed the pair an a skating ring, on Instagram.

He captioned the picture: “Christmas is coming. Let’s go skate.”

An innocent moment between a loving dad and his little girl.

But somehow certain people have managed to twist it into something sinister, and social media has allowed them a platform to share their nonsense with the world.

Christmas is coming 🎅🏼 Let’s go skate ♥️

“She’s your daughter… why are you kissing on her lips..?” one critic wrote.

Another moaned: “That looks wrong.”

It’s not the first time David, 43, has been abused for posting an affectionate shot; the same happened when he posted a pic of him and Harper sharing a peck when she was five years old.

He hit back then, saying: “I got actually criticised for kissing my daughter on the lips the other day.

“I kiss all my kids on the lips. Brooklyn, maybe not. Brooklyn’s 18, he might find that a little bit strange. But I’m very affectionate with the kids.

“It’s how I was brought up and Victoria, and it’s how we are with our children.

“We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them, and support them, and we’re very affectionate with them.”

Wife Victoria, 44, was similarly trolled for sharing a lip-peck kiss pic with her daughter the same year, 2017.

Fortunately, there are lots of Becks’ fans who took this cute snap in the spirit it was intended, and flooded his account with positive comments.
