Princess Eugenie has revealed a special detail about her beautiful – and very unusual – new engagement ring.

Speaking to BBC’s The One Show on Monday evening about her engagement to Jack Brooksbank, the Queen’s granddaughter showed off the colourful sparkler.

Her fiancé, Jack, explained that it’s a very rare pink-orange padparadscha sapphire, usually found in Sri Lanka and named after the colour of a lotus blossom.

The sapphire is surrounded by diamonds – and Jack picked it for a very special reason.

He said: “I found the ring in a jewellers and then proposed to Eugenie without it and came back and we designed the diamonds around this padparadscha sapphire.

He went on: “What’s amazing about it is that it changes colour – it’s why I love it so much.

“It changes colour from every different angle that you look at it, which is what I think of Eugenie. That she changes colour and she’s just so amazing.

“And we thought that was an amazing sign.”

Yes, that’s right, he picked a magic ring, because it reminds him of his colourful future wife.

HOW ADORABLE IS THIS GUY.

The public also noticed another reason the ring could be meaningful – it’s very similar to Eugenie’s mother Sarah Ferguson’s ruby engagement ring.

As well as showing off the amazing ring, the loved-up pair described the ‘perfect’ engagement, where Jack got down on one knee in Nicaragua, with a volcano as the backdrop.

Eugenie said: “The lake was so beautiful and the light was such a special light I’d never seen.

“I actually said this is an incredible moment… then he popped the question to me!”

An ecstatic-looking Jack added: “I love Eugenie so much and we are just so happy and over the moon for what is to come.”

Eugenie said: “We met when I was 20 and Jack was 24 and fell in love. We have the same passions and drive for life.”

The wedding will take place at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in the autumn.
