Prince Harry engagement-watch hots up as he and Meghan go away for her birthday

Alert, alert, everyone on alert

As anyone in their thirties who is in a relationship but not married knows, when you go on holiday/ have a birthday/ eat a dinner that’s fancier than a Nandos, everyone thinks you’re getting engaged.

And while many aspects of Prince Harry’s life are quite different from ours, it’s good to know that this one is the same.

Because as Harry, 32, and his girlfriend Meghan Markle head off to Africa to celebrate her 36th birthday, everyone is slightly obsessed with whether she will come back with a ring.

Rumours are swirling that Harry will ‘finally’ propose (they’ve been together less than a year, can everyone calm down a bit?) to Meghan on their hols as they were spotted jumping on a plane together.

Meghan had already done one flight to London from her home in Toronto, where she had just finished filming Suits.

Meanwhile Harry had just flown in from Sicily.

And we thought our travel arrangements were complicated.

They both went pretty casual for the flight – not as casual as we go on long haul though when we are essentially in pyjamas but still – and Meghan was apparently holding a birthday present.

You’ve gone a bit early there, Harry, we’d have waited until you were on the first champagne after you landed.

Meghan celebrated her birthday on Friday and a source told The Sun that Harry’s had the holiday in mind for a while, with Africa somewhere that means a lot to him as he’s travelled there for work.

“Harry has been planning this holiday for a long time,” the source said.

“He’s made the trip incredibly romantic. They’ll go on boats across the lake, walk in the bush at dawn and camp under the stars.

“Who knows what will happen when they’re watching a sensational African sunset together? Maybe he’ll get down on one knee.”

Or maybe they’ll get drunk on cocktails, eat some awesome meat then go home to plan tomorrow’s safari?

Just a thought so Harry and Meghan aren’t feeling too much pressure, guys.
