Piers Morgan reveals the ONE thing he won’t ask Susanna Reid

He reckons Susanna will have bagged herself a good deal

| Updated:

There aren’t many topics Piers Morgan isn’t willing to spout off about given half a chance – but it turns out he has no intention of ever bringing up pay with ITV colleague Susanna Reid.

Good Morning Britain co-host Piers celebrated signing a new two-year contract, reportedly worth over £1million, to continue presenting the ITV breakfast show earlier this week.

But the mouthy 52-year-old has vowed never to discuss money with Susanna, indicating salaries with commercial broadcasters having a “different dynamic” to those handed out at the BBC.

Nonetheless, the former newspaper editor remains confident Susanna will have bagged herself a deal in keeping with her standing as one of the broadcaster’s top stars.

“I will probably never know what she gets and I would never have that conversation with her,” he told The Sun’s TV Mag.

“But I know she is a tough cookie who I am sure has negotiated herself a very good deal with ITV. And I’m sure ITV, as I would, value her very highly.”

Piers also said he is a feminist who enjoys being surrounded by strong women.

And he urged women to aim for more than just equality, whether it’s the workplace or elsewhere.

“Aspire, like I do, to be the best,” he said.

Meanwhile, Piers’ remarks about pay came after he enjoyed a little friendly Twitter spat with his BBC Breakfast colleague Dan Walker.

Piers couldn’t resist replying to Dan’s tweet about job opportunities at BBC, quipping: “Nah, I’m good thanks mate. Heard it’s a bit dull & the pay’s [bleep].”

Dan fired back: “We are well remunerated. Importantly… Louise [Minchin] and I are paid the same for Breakfast. Can the same be said for you and Susanna?”

Piers responded: “We’re both paid more than you two put together. But that’s because we’re entertaining.”

Good Morning Britain is on ITV, weekdays, from 6am.
