He had a close call!

Phillip Schofield has revealed he had a “near death episode” on Monday night after being stung by a bee.

The presenter is severely allergic to bee and wasp stings and revealed on Tuesday’s This Morning that he stepped on a bee while tidying his kitchen.

Phil, 56, revealed his body immediately started to react and his wife Stephanie was ready to inject him with an EpiPen.

Phil revealed what happened as he and Holly discussed England’s first World Cup match on Monday night, which saw them beat Tunisia.

Holly said to Phil: “You were lucky to even watch the game last night. Seriously lucky.”

Recalling the encounter in a segment called “Phil’s near death episode”, Phil replied: “I was. I’ve said on here numerous times that I’m allergic to bee and wasp stings. I was clearing up the kitchen last night and I stepped on a bee.

“I said to Steph straight away, ‘I’ve been stung.’ Thankfully, it was on the sole of my foot, it was a tiny bee and it didn’t all go in.”

A concerned Holly asked: “Did you have your EpiPen?”

An EpiPen is an automatic injection device which contains adrenalin or epinephrine to treat allergic emergencies.

Phil explained that his body started reacting to the sting within seconds.

He said: “It’s like drifting off into this really weird tunnel and Steph was ready with the EpiPen.

“She said, ‘Do I do it now?’ and I said, ‘no’.”

Phil then joked: “I think Steph was disappointed that she didn’t get to put it in.”

Holly asked her co-host: “Are you alright now?” to which Phil replied: “Yeah I’m OK.”

He then jokingly said he almost missed the football match and Love Island because of the incident.

Even though Phil is allergic to bees and wasp stings, that hasn’t stopped him risking his life for the entertainment of This Morning viewers.

Last year, the presenter and Holly got suited up in beekeeping gear to hang out with a swarm of bees.

As they started to get surrounded by bees, Phil told viewers: “I’m severely allergic to wasp and bee stings.

“Just over there we have our paramedics to ensure that I stay alive because I am severely allergic to bee and wasp stings.”

Holly added: “We had a bit of a chat earlier so I know what to do.”

“EpiPen in the butt cheek but it doesn’t go through clothes so you’ll need a full debagging.”
