Phillip Schofield’s fans joked they’re “disappointed” after clapping eyes on his latest Instagram photo.
Why, you ask? Well, it’s all to do with that age old cream tea debate: what comes first? The jam or the cream?
The 56-year-old, who grew up in Cornwall, shared a lovely snap to social media this week showing him toasting the 70th anniversary of the NHS with a cuppa and a plate of scones.
Fans were quick to join Phil in praising the work of the NHS on its huge milestone, but many also cheekily pointed out whoever made the scones had got the cream and jam the wrong way around.

In Phil’s picture, the cream was smeared on the fluffy scones first, followed by the jam.
Who knew it would cause such a debate?!
One follower joked: “Shame on you @schofe!! 🙈. Jam first, always jam first… I think I need a lie down!! 😛 xxx.”
Another laughed: “Disappointed! Jam first always! Cornish or not!”
A third added: “Hold on jam on top.! sorry but jam on the bottom, please.x.”
And many more followed suit!
However, plenty more followers said Phil’s yummy cream tea looked just right to them and it was always cream first then jam.
One said: “I do jam on top too because it masks the taste of clotted cream, but got to add clotted cream otherwise it’s not right!”
A second told him “Congrats on having the cream and jam in the correct (Devon) way! #creamfirst.”
And a third added: “Glad to see the scones are made the right way around!”
Basically, we’ve learned EVERYONE has an opinion when it comes to cream tea and you can’t please ’em all, right? And we doubt Phil actually made those scones himself anyway when he was half-way through a live TV broadcast!
Anyway, the point of Phillip’s photo was not to spark debate on cream tea serving choices, but to mark 70 years of the NHS, and many followers joined him in celebrating the National Health Service by sharing their own stories and experiences.
One told him: “We don’t applaud the NHS enough in the UK. So many hero’s go to work in an invisible cape. Happy Birthday.”
Another simply said: “Without the NHS I wouldn’t be alive today. So I owe them a massive debt of gratitude xx.”

Phillip and Holly Willoughby marked the 70th anniversary by broadcasting This Morning live from the maternity wards at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital in London.
Phillip previously praised the NHS for saving his brother Tim’s life after he was hospitalised in 2015 with an unknown condition.
Last year, Phillip shared a photo of himself and Tim at the Bristol Royal Infirmary after they returned to the hospital to thank the staff who cared for him.
Phillip told fans: “When I walked through this ICU door in Nov 2015 our world was in bits and Tim was in big trouble inside … Today BOTH brothers stood outside with such admiration and thanks to the incredible team.”
