Peaches Geldof’s widower reveals her death was not a surprise

Thomas Cohen lost his wife three years ago to drugs

Thomas Cohen has spoken out about the heartbreaking moment he discovered his wife Peaches Geldof’s body after she overdosed on heroin.

The musician admitted he “wasn’t surprised” after finding her body and carried on looking after their two children.

Peaches passed away as a result of a drug overdose in 2014 at the age of 25 leaving sons Astala, 4, and Phaedra, 5 behind.

Speaking to the German newspaper Bild Thomas revealed: “When I found her, I was not surprised. I thought to myself at that moment, ‘Yes of course – you had to do that’.

“What I can remember, it must have been an hour after I found her, that it was time for the kids’ lunch.”

He added: “They needed their lunch. So I took the children’s chairs to the table, took the yogurts out of the fridge, the bananas.

“After that we drove here, escorted by the police.”

And Thomas wasn’t the only one who wasn’t surprised the journalist had died.

Speaking to the Guardian last year Peaches’ father Sir Bob Geldof said: “Part of me kind of half-expected (it with) Peaches, to be honest with you.

“The way she was carrying on, there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Now three years on the widower is focused on his two children.

He said: “I want them to be happy, I don’t care what they end up doing.

“They are miraculously having happy childhoods which hopefully leads to happy fruitful lives.”
