Mike Tindall reveals how to pronounce newborn baby Lena’s name

The little girl arrived on June 18

Zara and Mike Tindall announced this week they’ve named their newborn baby daughter Lena Elizabeth Tindall.

The unusual first name had fans questioning just how to pronounce it: Lee-na or Lay-na?

Well, now Mike, 39, himself has come out to clear up any confusion, confirming the little girl’s name is pronounced Lay-na.

One royal fan tweeted on Wednesday: “Is it pronounced Lena or Leena in the UK? .”

Mike replied: “Pronounced like Lay-na.”

He also clarified that his and Zara’s first-born, Mia, is pronounced Mee-a, rather than My-a, as some fans seemed to think!

The couple welcomed their second child on June 18.

A spokesperson for the couple said on Wednesday: “The name is Lena Elizabeth. It was just a name they liked.”

The little girl’s middle name is a tribute to Zara’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Fans have rushed to congratulate Zara and Mike on their new arrival and for choosing such a beautiful name.

A statement previously issued by Buckingham Palace read: “Mrs Michael Tindall was safely delivered of a baby girl on 18th June, at Stroud Maternity Unit. Mr Tindall was present at the birth.

“The weight of the baby was 9lbs 3oz.

“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Philip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news.”

The new arrival is The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s seventh great-grandchild and the fourth grandchild for the Princess Royal.

Lena will be known as Miss Tindall, as the Princess Royal chose not to give her children royal titles.

She is 19th in line to the throne.

Tragically, Zara and Mike lost a baby in pregnancy in 2016.

This is the second royal baby born this year, following the arrival of Prince Louis in April.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcomed their third child, Prince Louis Arthur Charles, on April 23; they’re also parents to son George, four, and daughter Charlotte, three.
