Samantha Markle “letting everything go” after Meghan’s baby news

The two women share a father, Thomas Markle

The Duchess of Sussex’s estranged half-sister Samantha has promised her she’s “letting everything go” after Meghan’s baby news.

Samantha has been very outspoken about Meghan’s relationship with their father, Thomas, but has now told Daily Mail TV she’s putting everything in the past as Meghan’s pregnancy has changed everything.

She said she was “kind of overwhelmed with emotion” when Kensington Palace announced the baby news, adding: “I just thought, I’m letting everything go.”

Samantha, who has not spoken with Meghan in three years, went on to say: “I think everybody really just needs to come together and realise this is really important and special for Meg, for Harry, for the child, for all of us, and we need to stop the sparring.

“A baby is incredible. You can’t say anything negative. You can’t feel anything negative. It’s just a beautiful, amazing thing. So my reaction was, ‘screw all this stuff and everything that’s been said’.”

Samantha previously told The Sun that she’s happy for Meghan, 37, and husband Prince Harry, 34, and hopes their future child could help heal the rift among the Markle family.

But she also warned she’d not be happy if their father Thomas, 74, was left out of the fold.

“I would hope that — for the sake of the baby, the family, the world and my dad — that leaving him out of the statement was not intentional.

“I hope my dad is included and at a proper time. If he is excluded, I won’t be happy. It is in the best interests of the baby for my dad to be included.”

Samantha also said that “a baby changes everything and softens everyone” and she hopes there will be “some adjustment” to include her father.

Samnatha recently flew to the UK in the hopes of getting in contact with Meghan and clearing up everything that’s been said.

She was not able to meet with Meghan in person, although was seen passing a letter, presumably for Meghan, to guards near Kensington Palace.

Kensington Palace announced Meghan’s pregnancy via a statement on Monday that referenced Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, but made no mention of Thomas.

It has not been confirmed how Thomas learned of the pregnancy.

The state of Meghan’s current relationship with her father is unclear.

He had been scheduled to walk her down the aisle at the Royal Wedding in May but pulled out at the last minute, saying he had heart problems that made him unable to travel.

Shortly before the wedding he’d been exposed for collaborating with paparazzi on set-up photos, something that Samantha subsequently said she’d told him to do in order to change the public perception of him.

During an interview with ITV’s Good Morning in June, Thomas said he’d yet to meet Harry in person but had spoken with him on the phone.

In the same interview, he predicted a royal baby would arrive sooner rather than later – and he was right.

“She has wanted children for a long time,” he said of Meghan. “And when she met Harry she spoke about how much she loved him and so there has to be a child in the making somewhere soon.”

They’ll also take in visits to New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, with Kensington Palace saying there will be no changes to the planned itinerary following Meghan’s pregnancy.

The palace said Meghan has taken medical advice about visiting Fiji and Tonga, given the risk of Zika transmission in both countries; Zika is a virus that can cause severe birth defects.
