Meghan and Harry reveal their wedding day tribute to Diana

This is so cute

Just when you thought the royal couple couldn’t get any sweeter, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry open up about how they paid tribute to the late Princess Diana on their wedding day.

Revealing new detail about their big day on 19 May at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, Harry, 34, spoke about the special flowers he handpicked for his bride.

Meghan, 37, explained how they’d come from their garden in Kensington, saying: “The bouquet was comprised of flowers that we really love.

“We have a very small garden here that we had been planting things in the [autumn] for, and what was really special, I think, was that the morning of the wedding, Harry went in and he picked some flowers to go into my bouquet. Which was really beautiful and something that makes it sentimental and really meaningful.”

Harry added that the gesture also included a moving tribute to his late mother, Princess Diana.

He said: “We didn’t have as many flowers in our little garden as we had hoped for because I think it snowed at Easter.

“That kind of ruined the whole thing! But, they’re very much a bouquet of wild flower, wild flower meadows and making sure that we had forget-me-nots in, as it was one of my mother’s favourite flowers.”

The Duke of Sussex added: “The great thing is that the day after, the bouquet ended up at Westminster Abbey on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Again, very traditional rather than throwing it over your head.

“I think it was the perfect place for it to be laid at rest.”

Pregnant Meghan added: “We knew how large the scale of the event would be, so in making choices that were really personal and meaningful, it could make the whole experience feel intimate”.

The new interview is part of a multimedia guide for visitors at Windsor Castle.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – who are currently on a 16-day royal tour – have donated their wedding outfits to be displayed at the exhibition.

It will be available to the public until January 6 before being moved to Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
