Love Island couple confirm split just weeks after leaving villa

They finished in fifth place on the ITV2 series

Love Island’s Montana Brown and Alex Beattie have confirmed their split just weeks after leaving the villa.

The couple missed out on a spot to be crowned winners after being voted off the show a few days before the grand final.

But it seems trying to make their relationship work on the outside has proved to be too difficult for them both.

Speaking to her 229K Twitter followers Montana revealed they’ve gone their separate ways.

Noooooo!

She wrote: “Alex and I have decided to split. Making our relationship work on the outside has been hard.

“He hasn’t been the same since coming out of the villa. Despite this we are still close and I will always support him.”

Fans rushed to support the star. One wrote: “Awwwwh nooo!!! Well you too were both lovely in the villa, hopefully you do find your man Mon. There’s plenty more fish in the sea.”

“So sad to hear this Mon. I thought he seemed different as well when you both came out. Just hope you’re happy and keep doing you,” another one of her followers tweeted.

A third added: “Noooooo, I thought you guys would be the power couple.”

Alex also confirmed that the split was a mutual decision.

He posted on Twitter: “Me and Montana met yesterday and have decided that it’s best to call it a day with our relationship with each other. It’s been very hard on the outside to make us work how we desired.

“I still have strong feelings towards her and will be remaining close friends and supporting her throughout everything.”

This comes just weeks after they both denied reports that they had already split.

Montana, 21, denied the claims after a fan tweeted a tabloid story, worried that her fave couple had gone their separate ways.

“This has to be a joke,” the fan wrote.

The brunette beauty replied: “This isn’t true.”

Meanwhile Alex, 22, posted a still from their video chat on Twitter writing: “Quick catch up with this little fire cracker.”

The Sun claimed that the couple had decided to go their separate ways after landing back in the UK following their stint on the show.

A source told the newspaper: “Montana is keen to follow her dreams as a TV presenter and has been attending meetings this week to get the wheels in motion.

“She doesn’t like partying and isn’t a big drinker so personal appearances in nightclubs aren’t really her thing.

“Instead she is ambitious and very much a career woman – her relationship with Alex is going to take a back seat.”

The former couple, who finished fifth in the romance series and, during his time in the villa Alex expressed his admiration for Montana and even told her he LOVED her.

But Montana honestly admitted that she couldn’t say the three words back to him.

Now adjusting back to life away from the villa in Majorca both Alex and Montana have been busy with appearances and photo shoots.

Montana is now a brand ambassador for clothing range Pretty Little Thing while Alex has landed a six figure modelling contract.

Meanwhile the show’s other power couples, Kem and Amber, Chris and Olivia and Marcel and Gabby are remaining strong and their romances seem to be blossoming.
