Liam Payne speaks about Cheryl in new interview amid possible ‘split’ speculation

Neither Liam nor Cheryl has responded to the speculation

Liam Payne shared a funny anecdote about Cheryl and their baby son Bear during a radio interview today.

The former One Direction star was co-hosting the Capital FM Breakfast Show on Monday morning with Roman Kemp when he joked about poor Bear, 11 months, having a difficult choice ahead of him.

That choice? Which football team to support!

Liam, 24, revealed he’s a West Brom fan while Cheryl, 34, doesn’t really get into football but, naturally, being from Newcastle would want her son to support her local team.

“I’m a West Brom fan which isn’t the problem, well, sometimes it is!” joked Liam.

“This is the thing, I mean Cheryl isn’t massively into football but everyone likes to bring up where they’re from when this happens.”

Liam went on to adopt a faux Geordie accent, saying: “It’s like, ‘Well, I’m from here, I’m going to do this’.”

Laughing, he then said: “That’s a great Geordie accent! It’s what [Cheryl] sounds like in the morning!”

Liam concluded on Bear’s big decision: “It’s like battle of the granddads at the moment. He’ll have a tough little choice. You’ll have to disappoint some grandparents or he’ll have to go, ‘You know what? Forget this! I like ice hockey!’

“Just pick a different sport!”

Liam’s remarks came as his relationship with Cheryl dominates headlines.

It’s been alleged the pair are going through a tough patch and haven’t been able to spend much time together as Liam’s been jetting around the world promoting his solo music.

Neither Liam nor Cheryl has commented on the speculation, so it’s unclear what is going on or how accurate the reports are.

They’ve been together for more than two years and welcomed their son Bear in March 2017.

The latest update, courtesy of The Sun, alleges that Liam has spoken with legal advisers about what would happen to the pair’s assets if they were to split, but it’s only a precaution and the couple still want to make it work.

ED! has contacted Liam and Cheryl’s reps for comment.
