Liam Payne publicly messages on Cheryl months after split

Fans praised his tweet

Liam Payne has reached out to ex-girlfriend Cheryl to congratulate her on her new music.

The pair announced their split earlier this year after two years together and have one-year-old son Bear together.

Proving there are no hard feelings between himself and Cheryl, Liam congratulated the singer on her new music – despite her new single, Love Made Me Do It, including lyrics like: “I fall in love with every [expletive].”

Liam, 25, wrote on Twitter: “Congratulations @CherylOfficial on your first release in 4 years can’t wait for everyone to hear the rest,” followed by a rose emoji.

Shortly after, Cheryl ‘liked’ Liam’s tweet.

Fans were quick to reply to Liam’s message, with one person writing: “I wish my exes were that respectful.”

Another said: “We love a supportive ex,” while a third tweeted: “Liam is officially the nicest human.”

Cheryl’s new track Love Made Me Do It, which was released on Friday, references her marriages to Ashley Cole and Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.

Even though she sings she “falls in love with every [expletive]”, Cheryl recently insisted the song isn’t about one ex in particular.

Speaking on Jessie Ware’s Table Manners, she said: “Actually all the music and all the songs that I’ve got ready were done way before we split – none of them are about anybody. I wasn’t sat writing a love poem to anyone or about anybody.

“It’s something that anyone who’s been in love will be able to relate to in some way or another. It’s catchy and it’s fun. It’s not about one specific person or relationship.

“It’s more about me being the lover of love that I am. I just love love!”

Cheryl has been single since she and Liam broke up in the summer and said she has reached the “end” of her romantic endeavours.

She added: “I know what I want in life, but in the romantic area, I am not as evolved. That area has stopped. It’s not happening anymore. It’s the end. It’s the end.

“I’ve got the man in my life now,” referring to her son Bear.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, Cheryl hinted that Liam hasn’t been helping much with their son.

According to The Mirror, the star said she’s been struggling with arranging childcare since returning to work, crediting her mum, Joan, and Liam’s parents for stepping in.

The former Girls Aloud star explained that it’s “taken a lot of adjusting”, adding to the publication: “Anything more than 9am to 6pm or overnight and I’m like: ‘Mam, I’m gonna be there for two nights.’

“She’s always there to be fair to her, or [Liam’s] parents come down as well. They’re very good as well.”

However, Cheryl made no mention of the former One Direction star.
