Liam Payne joked he may be in the doghouse with girlfriend Cheryl Tweedy after embarrassing her during a live radio interview.
The Strip That Down singer spoke to Nick Grimshaw on his Radio 1 Breakfast Show from their home ahead of his performance in the Live Lounge on Thursday lunchtime.
Asked how many people he would be bringing in his entourage, Liam said seven.
He then pondered: “I wonder how many Chezza would turn up with? I should ask her. Wait there, I am going to.”
The 24-year-old, who shares one-year-old son Bear with Cheryl, 34, could then be heard shouting: “Chez, are you there?”
“Hang on I am just finding her,” he told Nick.
After a brief silence he then revealed: “She’s actually in the toilet, this is hilarious. Cheryl? Can I ask you a question?”
“Don’t ask her in the toilet,” the DJ told him while laughing.
But Liam was undeterred and replied: “She’s coming out now, let’s find out what’s going on. First up, was it a number one or a number two?”
Laughing, he then said: “Erm, she says ‘stop it’.”
He continued before being interupted by Nick: “How many people are in your entourage, if you were going to Radio 1? Two?! She’s going to kill me after this phone call, this could be the last thing you ever-”
Nick then asked Cheryl herself to come on the phone as she claimed her entourage was just seven after giving it some thought.
“Seven! As if you roll with seven people, 17 more like. You make Madonna look modest, you,” he told the former Girls Aloud star.
Sounding tired, she replied: “No, that’s not true. Maybe I should bulk it up – do you wanna join me entourage? We’d have fun.”
The DJ then asked her to put Liam back on the phone, wishing him good luck for his Live Lounge performance.
“If I am still alive after this phone call, I will be there, if I survive ‘the wrath of the Chez’,” he joked.
Later he updated his Instagram Stories to show he had made it to the studio and was excited about performing.

It’s not the first time Liam has given away too much information about Cheryl as he promotes his solo career away from One Direction.
He’s joked about trying on her underwear as they regularly share clothes, and speculated over what she’s feeding their son, as he’s “massive”.
In contrast, Cheryl has barely spoken of her son or home life with Liam, and both never share pictures of Bear on social media.
