Legendary 90s boyband set to reunite – but one member will be missing

We had joy, we had fun

Now this is some news that’ll get you singing from the rooftops!

X Factor judge Louis Walsh isn’t just a talent show judge, you know. It may have been forgotten in recent years, but Louis is actually a hugely accomplished manager.

He was the man behind 90s juggernauts Boyzone and Westlife, going on to help Ronan Keating launch his solo career too.

Anyway, Louis has some very exciting news for fans of a particular brand of stool-based balladeering – a Westlife reunion is very much on the cards.

However, there is one small caveat – the reunion will only be featuring four of the original five singers.

Brian McFadden isn’t invited to the party, as Louis reportedly says only Shane Feelan, Mark Feehily, Nicky Byrne and Kian Egan “respect each other.”

Louis told The Sun: “Brian won’t be involved, it will be the Fab Four. Totally. The four of them just see themselves as Westlife.”

And although it’s said Brian is keen to get involved, even to the point last year of saying he “would never say no to a Westlife reunion,” Louis isn’t having it.

The music mogul said: “I prefer a happy band and four happy people. They all know each other, they all respect each other.

“Three of them live in the same town in Sligo, so it makes more sense.”

The much-anticipated reunion has been in the works since as far back as 2014, but only now are the wheels really starting to turn.

Although one former member – Kian Egan – appeared to scotch the rumours when talking about it with the Irish Independent last month.

He said: “There’s no conversation amongst the Westlife lads for a reunion. Everyone is very friendly and happy and we all still get on.

“Louis is our biggest fan of all time. He loves the idea of it more than anything else. It’s not to say it wouldn’t happen in the future.”

Westlife first split in 2011, after a run of success that saw them score an incredible 14 number one singles.

Their debut track, Swear it Again, hit the charts in May 1999 and kicked off a run of smash hits including Flying Without Wings, Uptown Girl and A World of Our Own.

There aren’t any more details yet such as when and where these reunion shows might take place, but we’ll bring you all the details as soon as they appear!
