Kym Marsh becomes the latest celebrity to quit Twitter

Kym Marsh has said she’s ditching the social media site after Ed Sheeran announced the same

Lena Dunham shuns it, Lily Allen took a break from it and this week, Ed Sheeran left Twitter too.

And now Kym Marsh has become the latest celebrity to announce that she’s ditching her profile after comments on the social media site negatively affected her.

“When you take a break from the world of Twitter you realise it can take over your life a bit – you can become a bit obsessed with reading what everyone’s up to or people’s opinions on this and that,” she said in her OK! magazine column.

“Plus, most of the time you’ll see loads of dead nice comments but then you’ll see one nasty one and that’s all you focus on.

“When anyone starts at Coronation Street, I tell them never to read [comments online] – you’d just want to quit immediately!”

Instead of posting her latest thoughts and scrolling for a second then realising it’s two hours later (just us?), Kym is now going to the gym and spending time with her family.

Huh. When we try to give up social media, we just spend more time browsing the Zara boots section and eating biscuits. Clearly Kym is better at this than us.

While Kym still appears to have some semblance of a Twitter profile though, Ed Sheeran has come off it altogether.

“I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it,” Ed told The Sun.

“One comment ruins your day.

“The [problem] for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much.”

Oh, Ed! 💔

Right everyone, back on Twitter and be nice to celebrities – we need some of them to stay around.
