Kerry Katona reveals the reason daughter Molly is moving to Ireland

The 15-year-old will live away from home for a whole year

Kerry Katona’s eldest child Molly is moving to Ireland to study to become a heart surgeon.

The clever 15-year-old, whose father is Brian McFadden, is striving for success, and her Atomic Kitten star mum doesn’t want to hold her back.

But Kerry has opened up about her concerns as a mother in terms of the distance between her and her first born.

Talking to OK! the 36-year-old said: “She wants to get really good grades in her GCSEs so she’s going to Ireland to do a transition year. This will give her an extra year of biology and sciences.

“She will be massively homesick. But I’ve told her that I think that it’s the right thing to do. Her mind is like a sponge and just soaks everything up.”

Molly is set to live with dad Brian’s parents Mairead and Brendan. The former Westlife star, who split with Kerry in 2004 is also dad to their 14-year-old daughter Lilly-Sue.

Kerry added that she felt Molly was in good hands with her grandparents, saying: “They dote on her and will look after her and keep her safe.”

However, just like any other parent would be, mum-of-five Kerry is nervous about her girl being so far away.

“I have a few down days about it already. But I don’t want to be the one holding my daughter back from furthering her education,” the supportive parent said. “Knowing Molly, she will be back every weekend!”

Kerry has also admitted that she is desperate for another baby with husband George Kay.

“Yes, we are [trying]. We haven’t been careful, put it that way!… I’ll be more than happy to find I’m pregnant,” she said.

Their marriage has been rocky, but they seem to be back on track and another baby could be exactly what they need.

They currently live in East Sussex with their daughter Dylan, two, and Kerry’s children Heidi, ten, and Max, eight, from her previous marriage to Mark Croft.
