Katie Price proves she’s ready for the London Marathon after claims she’s not trained enough

Good luck, Katie!

Katie Price has said she’s preparing for the London Marathon… after claims her training has fallen by the wayside in recent weeks.

The former glamour model is running the Virgin Money London Marathon in April for the British Lung Foundation, which has helped her mum Amy cope with her terminal lung condition.

Reports last week alleged that Katie, 39, had done very little training ahead of the mammoth 26.2-mile run because of recent poor weather conditions, a busy work schedule and her mini face lift surgery.

According to The Sun, friends even feared Katie could injure herself if she didn’t get more training in ahead of the event.

But proving she’s very much on track, the star took to Instagram on Sunday to speak about her training and urge followers to support her.

Katie said: “For all of you that don’t know, I am running the London Marathon for the British Lung Foundation… [it’s an] amazing cause close to my heart.”

She added: “Getting Marathon ready again for this year’s London Marathon.”

After giving details of her sponsorship page, Katie shared a photo of herself and mum Amy to Instagram Stories saying she was running for Amy.

Amy was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis last year, the same lung condition that the late Keith Chegwin had.

A devastated Katie revealed the diagnosis on Loose Women, sobbing: “The thing is my mum is going to die and I don’t want her to die. She’s getting worse, she’s having to sell her house as she can’t get up the stairs.”

She struggled to speak through her tears, admitting at one stage she hadn’t seen her mum for weeks as she couldn’t face seeing her knowing one day she’d be gone.

“How can my mum die?” she sobbed, before walking off the set and not returning.

“I love my mum so much, I cannot do this.”

Katie’s fans have been rallying around her, with one saying: “Go Katie you got it in the bag, Keith Chegwin would be so proud as will your mum xx.”

Another said: “So proud of you Katie.”

A third added: “You really are amazing and a role-model for many. Thanks!”

And a fourth said: “Good luck and respect to you x.”

Katie’s remarks came after The Sun claimed her marathon training had been affected by recent snowy weather, her packed schedule and her mini face lift.

She’s been recovering after undergoing surgery in Belgium to correct damage caused from removing the threads of a previous face lift.

An insider told the newspaper friends feared determined Katie could injure herself if she ran the event without more training beforehand.

But judging from her Instagram comments, Katie’s training away and putting all those fears to bed!

It won’t be the first time Katie has taken part in the London Marathon: she took on the gruelling race with now ex-husband Peter Andre back in 2009.

She completed the marathon despite later revealing she’d been in pain and suffering heartbreak over a miscarriage that happened just days before the race.

In her autobiography, You Only Live Once, she said: “I knew it wasn’t advisable to run the marathon in that condition but I’m such a trouper and I really didn’t want to let my sponsors or the charity down.

“But I did my best and put on an act that everything was okay.”

Despite the circumstances – and a nasty knee injury half-way through – she completed the 26.2 miles in just over seven hours.

She signed up for the 2011 marathon as well but was forced to pull out before the event after damaging her knee again during training.
