Inside Pippa’s wedding party – Meghan Markle, haggis and ping pong!

In the words of Miranda: "What fun!"

Everyone knows the best bit about weddings is the party, not the boring ceremony bit.

And details have now emerged about Pippa Middleton’s reception following her union with new husband James Spencer yesterday.

The party was thought to have cost around £700,000, and no expense was spared to ensure that the guests had a tip top day.

Revellers nibbled at £40,000 Russian caviar, sipped magnums of champers and some even enjoyed a game of ping-pong with seven-time Wimbledon champion Roger Federer.

Designer Giles Deacon was paid £40,000 to design two dresses for Pippa, which she teamed with £2,000 heels by Manolo Blahnik.

The marquee where the reception took place cost £100 000!

The 320 guests tucked into a tasty five-course wedding breakfast, which included haggis with Scottish lamb and whisky and was prepared by 30 chefs – and organised by caterers Table Talk, Pippa’s former employer.

Later in the evening, peckish guests gobbled canapes, that included mini haggis, foie gras, langoustines, steak and king prawns.

In spite of the dosh laid out for the massive event, there was one thing that was free – the Spitfire flypast by the Boultbee Flight Academy, which they donated for nowt!

Of course, what we all want is to catch a glimpse of Prince Harry with his squeeze Meghan Markle, and check out what she was wearing.

She was notably absent from the church, so as to avoid stealing the bride’s thunder.

She waited at Kensington Palace for proceedings to be over so Harry could drive back and whisk her back to the reception later at the Middleton home.

“Harry went all the way back to London to get Meghan and bring her to the party,” a source told The Sun.

“He was determined not to upstage Pippa but also really wanted them to enjoy the wedding together. He didn’t want Meghan having to arrive alone, without him alongside her, at the reception.”

Driving 100 miles to collect her – to come back to the same spot? Must be love!

It remains to be seen whether we will get a glimpse of the hot new couple together – Pips banned all guests from bringing their phones into the reception so no one could take a sneaky pic or two.

Hopefully she will do the decent thing and release some official shots of the do for us all to enjoy…
