Home and Away actress could be in a coma for months, say her family

Jessica Falkholt was badly injured in a crash that claimed the lives of her sister and parents

The family of Home and Away actress Jessica Falkholt have updated fans about the star’s condition after the tragic car crash that claimed the lives of her parents and younger sister.

Jessica was left in a critical condition after the crash in New South Wales, Australia, on Boxing Day.

Her parents Lars and Vivian Falkholt were killed in the smash, along with the driver of the other vehicle, Craig Antony Whitall.

Sister Annabelle, who was 21, was taken to hospital with Jessica, but died on Friday morning with family by her side.

Jessica has had an operation on her brain injury, as well as other surgery, and is continuing to fight for her life, according to family members.

“We’re not going to know much about Jessica’s real condition for a while,” a relative told Daily Mail Australia.

“The neurosurgeon came in yesterday and he just said the operation went well and it’s a waiting game.

“She could be in a coma for weeks or even months, she still has all the swelling on her brain. They’ll probably have to wait a week or two now and see how she responds to surgery.”

Australian news reports say Jessica’s family have said she is clinging to life, with a 50/50 chance of surviving her injuries.

One family member added that if Jessica wakes up, they are worried about how to break the news to her that she is the only survivor of the crash that killed her family.

They also paid tribute to a brave passer-by who pulled Jessica and Annabelle from the wreckage after the horrific crash.

Jessica played Hope Morrison in Home and Away last year.
