Holly Willoughby speaks about dyslexia on This Morning

She was interviewing actor Martin Kemp about his dyslexia

Holly Willoughby rarely speaks publicly about her dyslexia, but she briefly touched on the subject during Thursday’s This Morning.

The presenter, 37, referenced her dyslexia during a chat with actor and singer Martin Kemp, who also has dyslexia.

Holly was curious how Martin prepares for his acting roles and remembers his lines.

She told Martin: “You’re dyslexic, I’m dyslexic as well.

“You say the way you learn and the way you prepare for this is different to other people.”

She added: “You have to find the way that works for you.”

Martin, who was diagnosed with dyslexia in 1995 after a brain tumour, replied: “Once upon a time I lived not being dyslexic.

“So it’s a weird kind of process that happens in my brain.”

“But when I read the script I digest it a lot more,” he added. “Before I go into rehearsals I have to know every single word.”

Holly made rare reference to her dyslexia in an interview with Glasgow’s Sunday Post last year, saying she often wonders if her three children will have dyslexia, too.

The mum of three said: “I do bear it in mind quite a lot. Although my mum hasn’t been officially tested she has very similar tendencies to me.”

She continued: “I don’t know whether that’s hereditary or not, but I do think about that. Schools are so much more advanced in looking out for it than when I was at school.”

Holly is a doting mum to son Harry, nine, daughter Belle, seven, and three-year-old son Chester.

Holly has previously said she relies on coloured scripts to help her prepare to host This Morning alongside co-star Phillip Schofield.

She also makes advance checks on the autocue so she is up to speed with everyone.
