Holly Willoughby reveals why her return to Dancing On Ice is extra special

She was last on the show in 2011

Holly Willoughby has said she can’t wait to be reunited with Phillip Schofield to present the rebooted Dancing On Ice when it returns to ITV this weekend.

Holly last presented the dance show with her This Morning partner back in 2011.

She was replaced by Christine Lampard after she went on maternity leave and then the show was “rested” in 2014.

Now it’s back and Holly said the timing couldn’t be better as her children, now aged eight, six and three, are old enough to enjoy it.

She said: “What is really nice is I have found a new appreciation for this kind of show (which I love) since having the kids.

“It is exactly the type of show we sit and watch as a family. We love Strictly, The X Factor and we love sitting there watching those big family event TV moments.

“It is nice my children are now old enough to come and watch and enjoy DOI.”

Holly said she “bit the hand off” bosses when they asked if she would be up for returning to the show, which was how she first started co-presenting with Phillip.

She said: “There have been rumours the show was coming back for a couple of years and I was asked if I’d be interested if it were and obviously it was that bite your hand off kind of thing!

“Now it is, everyone does feel it is the right time to bring back DOI.”

Phillip recently admitted that it was thanks to DOI that his This Morning partnership with Holly came about, as he enjoyed her company so much.

He said: “Dancing On Ice is what started it all off. It was the time we worked together. We had such fun on DOI that when the position became vacant on This Morning, I said ‘Holly is the only person I want. If I can’t
have her I am not playing’.”

Holly and Phil have been a huge hit on This Morning and fans can’t wait to see them reunited on DOI this Sunday.

As well as tuning in to see how the celebrity skaters – including Donna Air, Jake Quickenden and Candice Brown – fare, others will be keen to see what Holly chooses to wear.

She’s become a style icon with her fashionable outfits on This Morning, which she shares on her Instagram account, and will pull out all the stops on DOI where the presenters get dressed up in suits and gowns.

Holly said of her DOI wardrobe: “I haven’t started shopping yet. I am looking forward to that. There are not many shows where you can really glam up.

“I am also looking forward to seeing what the skaters are wearing – that whole explosion of sequins, glitter and glamour especially in January when it is just dark and dreary.”

Dancing On Ice will start on ITV on Sunday, 7 January at 6pm.
