Geri Horner accused of ‘throwing shade’ at Spice Girls during awkward GMB interview

Sad times....

Poor Geri Horner looked rather uncomfortable on today’s Good Morning Britain after a remark she made about the Spice Girls was taken the wrong way.

The popstar had been chatting to Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard about the difficulties of getting the five girls together for a reunion, when Susanna suggested she was “throwing shade” at them.

Susanna had said: “There is obviously a sticking point somewhere, someone saying ‘this can’t happen’.”

Geri answered: “To get five people to agree all at the same time, even if you have five really nice people to say you all like the same colour is hard.”

That prompted Susanna to say: “That was throwing shade… ‘even if you have five really nice people’.”

Ben chipped in: “Was that you saying that some of them aren’t really nice?”

However, Geri looked stunned by the accusation and responded calmly: “No, they are really nice, that’s what I’m saying: they are all really nice. No, I wasn’t saying that [throwing shade].”

She then threw a look to the side of the camera suggesting she wasn’t that impressed with how her words had been taken.

Awkward!

Rumours about a Spice Girls reunion have been swirling for years and years.

Geri left the band in 1998 and the girls – Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel C and Mel B – continued as a foursome until 2000.

They then reunited in 2007 for a comeback album and tour before parting ways again the following year.

A one-off reunion at the London Olympics 2012 fuelled speculation of a full comeback but, alas, it wasn’t meant to be!

Rumours about a reunion swirled yet again in November last year after The Sun claimed the girls had been in secret talks to release a new album and TV special.

However, Posh Spice Victoria rubbished the claims in a chat with This Morning, dashing fans’ hopes of seeing them zig a zig ah on stage again.

“It is not happening. At some point you’ve gotta know when it’s time say, ‘that was great’. Girl Power will always be out there and is something that we all still believe.”
