Gemma Collins returns to Radio 1 Teen Awards one year after stage fall

TOWIE star made an even BIGGER entrance than last year's epic appearance

Gemma Collins made a triumphant return to the Radio 1 Teen Awards earlier today, managing to avoid falling through an open stage trapdoor like she did at the same occasion last year.

She did take a tumble of sorts, however – but at least this year’s grand entrance saw her seemingly hit the ground by design rather than accident as the TOWIE favourite ‘plummeted’ from the ceiling as part of skydive-like stunt.

“Guys, I’m stuck on the roof,” the 37-year-old’s voice explained to the live crowd as she apparently dangled in the air.

Warning the 12,000 spectators below she thought she could wriggle free, fans were on their feet as a pink-suited figure purporting to be the reality star plunged to the stage in a nod to last year’s fiasco.

Within moments Gemma had a microphone in her hand and was reflecting on how last year’s incident had helped ‘make her career’.

She also claimed the fall had helped on-off fella James ‘Arg’ Argent decide on his true feelings for her.

“We weren’t together this time last year,” she said.

“When I fell, he said he fell in love with me a little bit more.”

Gemma continued: “It’s thanks to the Teen Awards that we got together. I’ll never forget. I can’t thank the fall enough. I think it made me more famous than ever.”

Fans were tickled by the idea of The GC outdoing herself yet again – with many hailing her as a ‘queen’ and “an absolute lege”.

A Twitter user who has dedicated their entire account to memes of Gemma commented: “One year on she can still take the [bleep] out of that fall I love her so much.”

And Instagram user @pamelajanedolby added: “Your so brave my heart was in my mouth just looking at you 😉”.

Boyfriend Arg recalled Gem’s memorable stumble on Instagram ahead of the bash at Wembley arena this afternoon.

Posting a clip of her trip, he commented: “I’ll never forget when she fell through the stage, I jumped up off my seat & ran down to check she was ok.

“She said she was fine & carried on the show like a true pro. She told me that she was so embarrassed & seemed more worried about the fact I was there and saw it! She was covered in bruises.”

Despite Gemma injuring herself, Arg added how he felt the mishap only endeared his beloved even more to her fans.

He continued: “We can all laugh about it now, Its a Hilarious iconic moment that will be almost impossible to top! It made all of us love the GC that even bit more!”

Posting another clip of her toppling over on her own Instagram account, Gemma declared the moment “showbiz history”.

She previously insisted she could have been seriously injured by the fall.

Gemma told The Sun last year: “I’m in total shock. It is a miracle I am living to tell the tale. I could have died or at least been disabled at the end of it. I could have been legless. Legless!”
