Reality TV star Ferne McCann has announced the birth of her daughter while the newborn’s father is on trial accused of carrying out a nightclub acid attack.

The presenter and ex-The Only Way Is Essex performer, 27, made the announcement of the arrival of her first child on Instagram on Thursday evening, saying the girl came a week early.

Ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins, 25, is on trial alongside 21-year-old Andre Phoenix after more than a dozen people were injured at the Mangle E8 nightclub in Dalston, east London, in April.

The pair were out celebrating the news of her pregnancy when the corrosive substance was launched into the air during a row in the crowded club, Wood Green Crown Court has been told.

Announcing the birth, McCann wrote: “Wellcome to the world my darling. Didn’t expect to see you a week early. I’m so in love & bursting with pride. It’s a girl.” [sic]

Collins, of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, admits throwing the substance but insists he did so having snatched it out of another man’s hand who he thought was going to spike someone’s drink with it.

He denies five counts of grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, and nine counts of actual bodily harm (ABH) against 14 people.

Phoenix, of Clyde Road, Tottenham, north London, denies four counts of GBH and two counts of ABH.

His trial resumes on Monday.

The arrival of Ferne’s little lady marks a fresh start for the TV star, who has vowed to embrace motherhood as a single woman.

She’s shared the journey so far with her fans, revealing how excited she’s been to welcome her first child.
