Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher shares joy at becoming a father

His wife Eliza has given birth to their first child

Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher has shared his joy at becoming a father.

The star played Andy Sugden in the ITV soap until recently, when he announced he was leaving the soap after 20 years.

He responded to an Instagram post from his wife Eliza, who had uploaded a photograph of a beautiful bouquet of pink flowers.

Writing on Twitter, Kelvin said: “Our hearts are filled with love. She’s the most beautiful little thing I’ve ever seen.”

The couple tied the knot last year and he told Hello!: “I knew I wanted to marry Liz the day I met her.

“Deep down I knew she was The One.”

Actress Eliza posted a few pictures on Instagram during her pregnancy, but she hasn’t revealed any more details about her new arrival.

Kelvin revealed earlier this year that he wanted to leave the show. His popular character Andy, who Kelvin played since 1996, has already exited.

He told ITV’s This Morning: “When I made the decision to leave, we had not fallen pregnant.

“When we did, suddenly my whole perspective on life changed and I want to be a doting father and want to make my son or daughter proud.

“I want to provide and will have more time to spend and give them the best upbringing I can.

“There are lots of new chapters for me.”

Congratulations to the happy couple!
