'DWTS' Contesant Prohibited from Promoting Herself During Season

There are certain rules in place.

Some might have noticed that Arike Ogunbowale did not take a promotional image with partner Gleb Savchenko for Dancing With the Stars.

The active NCAA athlete is set to take part in the reality show's 26th season, but while competing, Ogunbowale must abide by certain rules implemented by the sports association.

A main takeaway from that forbids the Notre Dame guard from earning any type of profit off of advertisements that feature her.

Emily James, associate director of public relations for the NCAA, told USA Today that there was a plan implemented that "provided direction allowing for Notre Dame’s Arike Ogunbowale to participate on this season of Dancing With the Stars."

Ogunbowale can not partake in commercial promotions like the rest of her DWTS competitors, nor can her school help to promote her in any way. The only thing Notre Dame is allowed to do is reference the "factual statement" that she will be a part of the upcoming season.

On the other hand, the 21-year-old can win money from the show if she makes it to the finals, as that would be related to her moves on the dance floor, not the basketball court.

Savchenko posted an image to his Instagram account after the cast was officially announced, sharing his excitement with fans.

"When you get the coolest ever partner for the next season of Dancing With the Stars @arike_ogunbowale," he captioned the post. "I know we’re gonna have a blast, let the journey begin."

He also shared a separate picture supporting Ogunbowale, this time taking a selfie while sporting a Notre Dame coat.

"Repping the fighting Irish @dancingabc," Savchenko wrote.
