Davina McCall pleads for help over mystery red bite mark on son’s leg

But fans can't agree on what caused it

The beauty of the internet is that if something goes awry in our lives, we can get help with a few taps of the keypad.

And Davina McCall has done exactly that, taking to Twitter to ask her followers for some urgent advice.

The former Big Brother presenter, 50, seemed worried last night as she sought opinions on a nasty rash that had materialised on her son’s leg, around the groin area.

But while she didn’t get a clear-cut diagnosis, the mum-of-three’s spirits were raised as her fans rushed to offer their support.

Davina has three children with her estranged husband Matthew Robertson, who she split from at the end of last year.

As well as two daughters, Holly, 16, and Tilly, 14, she has a son, Chester, 11, and it was her boy that she was concerned about.

Being a Sunday evening, her doctor’s surgery would’ve been closed, so she decided to rack the brains of her fans on social media.

Posting a picture of the stricken area, which had a big red mark on it, she wrote: “Hello Twitter. Is this [a] tick bite? On my son’s leg…”

There then followed a series of exchanges as her followers queued up to offer their suggestions.

One backed up Davina’s hunch that it was a tick bite, saying: “Looks like it, yes! Leaves a red wheel. Horrible little things – best go get it checked in case there’s any still in his skin.”

Davina confirmed: “Yes, like a bull’s eye.”

Another fan pointed out that they’d had a similar, itchy rash, and that it had been caused by a mosquito bite.

But Davina replied: “Not itchy… no mozzies.” She then added: “Horsefly or mozzie couldn’t get right up his trouser leg?”

At that point, an organisation called Lyme Disease UK sent her a link with some information about the potentially deadly illness.

But although the presenter seemed grateful to receive the suggestions, one follower wasn’t convinced that she was doing the right thing by going on social media.

They wrote: “I have a better way of making a diagnosis than asking Twitter – it is called flipping a coin.”

Davina retorted: “Actually I’ve had some very helpful answers. Going to doctor’s this a.m.”

Let’s hope they can get it sorted as soon as possible.
