Danny Dyer reveals brother pulled out of best man duties at last minute

Wedding turned into a real-life soap saga

| Updated:

Would you Adam and Eve it? Rough and tough Danny Dyer has scrubbed up good and proper for his wedding to childhood sweetheart Joanne Mas.

And there was not a Terry towel dressing gown in sight! (er, remember in EastEnders when Mick married Linda in a robe after his punch up with Dino at their Christmas wedding!)

Instead, the handsome cheeky chappy was dashingly clad in a pucker whistle’n’flute, which is understood to have been based on one worn by former James Bond Sean Connery.

His stunning (and patient) bride Jo, was wrapped up in a flamenco-inspired gown complete with a cathedral-length veil – a nod to her Spanish roots.

“To be standing here with the girl I grew up with – looking so beautiful in her wedding dress – that is a lovely thing,” Danny told Hello magazine.

“Jo is my best girl – the love of my life,” he continued. “Without her I would be nothing.”

Wife Jo was just as smitten, admitting: “I have dreamed about this day my whole life and I just wanted it to be perfect.”

As you’d expect with a soap wedding involving soap stars, there was a wee bit of drama on the day.

Danny’s brother Tony suddenly announced he had to pull out of best man duties.

But don’t worry folks – there was a good reason.

His own wife was giving birth to their twins so he had to make a dash to her side.

Luckily, their sister stepped up to be best woman, while the couple’s daughter Dani, 19, was Joanne’s maid-of-honour.

Their younger daughter Sunnie, nine, was a bridesmaid and son Art, two, was page boy.

Danny and glowing Jo were joined by 150 guests, including 27 of Danny’s EastEnders cast mates, such as Ross Kemp and Steve McFadden.

They were treated to a three-course meal filled with East End treats such as pie and mash, egg and chips and jellied eels.

Yum. To see more glossy pics from Danny’s big day check out this week’s Hello magazine.
