Coronation Street star announces engagement to long-term girlfriend

He popped the question during a romantic holiday in Spain

Coronation Street actor Dean Fagan has announced his engagement to long-term girlfriend Louise Pridding.

Dean, who plays mechanic Luke Britton, got down on one knee and asked Louise to be his wife during their holiday in Spain.

The couple have been together for almost a decade and are now finally taking their relationship to the next stage.

Announcing the news on his Instagram Dean shared a photo of him kissing Louise’s cheek.

He said: “After making her wait 9 nearly 10 years!!! I finally led her down a dark path and asked her to marry me.

“Can’t believe she said yes! But glad she did. My best friend and now fiance. My pea. ❤️❤️❤️.”

Meanwhile Louise took to her own social media account and expressed her excitement.

She said: “Do I even need to say it…. I said yes! 💍 After leading me down a dark path in southern Spain, Dean asked me to marry him 💗 Ahhh love!

“I’m absolutely over the moon, my best friend now my fiancé,” alongside a snap of them both showing off her gorgeous ring.

The couple were instantly bombarded with congratulation messages from their followers.

One said: “Congratulations to both of you! So happy for you both.”

“Congratulations to you both and to the future Mrs Fagan,” another wrote.

A third added: “So so happy for you @louisepridding amazing news. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer couple.”

Some of his soap pals also congratulated the couple.

Qasim Akhtar (Zeedan Nazir) who wrote: “Congrats bredrin.”

Tisha Merry (Steph Britton) added: “Beyond happy! Congratulations big bro.”

Dean, 29, is best known for his role in the ITV soap.

The actor revealed he’s just signed a brand new contract meaning he will stay on the Cobbles for another year.

Dean said: “I’m here for another year and I’m really happy.

“I’ve been getting some great story lines and I am very thankful.”

And Dean isn’t the only Corrie star to get engaged over the summer.

Back in June Sam Aston, who plays Chesney Brown, revealed he proposed to long-term girlfriend Briony Gardner.

The 24-year-old popped the question on a stage in front of 250 people.

He wrote: “Me and my beautiful bride to be…”

Posting a series of photos and a clip of the heartwarming moment Briony wrote: “After sharing over 5 years together, 4 Al, Andy and Sam golf days and 3 doggies, 2 hearts have now become 1 as Sam and I are…ENGAGED!! (How is it possible I can even say that out loud?!).

“Sam got down on one knee last night at his annual golf do and proposed in front of 250 people and my heart could burst with happiness!! (When did I get so lucky?!).

“I can’t wait to marry my whole world but until then, I’m just floating in this bliss called love. I love you @samaston93.”

Sam’s co-star Brooke Vincent also commented on the sweet post saying: “I’m actually welling up!!!!!!! I am so so so happy for you both!!!!! Congratulations!!! Love you both lots!!!”

Another said: “This is lovely. Congratulations to the both of you!”

The couple first met in 2009 and their relationship has continued to blossom over the past eight years.
