Coronation Street shares first pic of Martin Platt reunited with son David

They look happy to be reunited!

Corrie has given fans an extra weekend treat by sharing a picture of David Platt hanging out in the salon with his dad, Martin.

It was announced last month that actor Sean Wilson would be returning to the cobbles later this year – and the image shows his first day back filming.

It’s believed he will come back to support his son son David after he is subjected to a dreadful sexual assault.

The Sun reports that son Martin will be joined by his pregnant girlfriend Robyn.

Corrie’s Insta pic has got fans excited.

One follower wrote: “Can’t wait… would be nice too see him return for good x”

Another added: “Woohoo. Love Martin!”

Martin was last seen in Weatherfield in 2005, when he set off for a new life away from ex, Gail and their son.

Sean is thought to be coming back for an “extended period” for the first time in nearly 13 years.

The 52-year-old actor, who played womanising Martin for 20 years, became a cheese-maker after leaving the Street.

Sean told the Mirror last summer that he would return to acting if the right offer came along.

Teasing Martin’s return in January, a Sun source said: “Martin has been mentioned a lot on the show since he left but it has involved other characters, mostly David, going to see him off-screen.

“But with David’s rape storyline, the writers thought it would be a good time to have him back properly.

“It’s not a permanent arrangement but fans will get to see Sean back as Martin for a good few weeks.”

Sean reportedly left after clashing with writers over a storyline where Martin had a fling with an under-age girl.
