Comedian Jack Whitehall has reportedly split from actress girlfriend of six years

It's said their work schedules kept them apart

TV funnyman Jack Whitehall has apparently broken up with his girlfriend Gemma Chan after six years together.

The 29-year-old Bad Education star had been dating Gemma, 35, since meeting the actress on the set of Channel 4 sitcom Fresh Meat.

However, it’s been reported that their busy work schedules came between them, prompting the couple to “secretly” call time on the relationship.

Both Jack and Gemma have seen their careers blossom in the past few years. Jack hosted his own BBC talk show, Backchat, and is a regular on the Sky One quiz programme A League Of Their Own.

Meanwhile, Gemma has appeared in Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, Sherlock and Death In Paradise.

And it seems that their romance has now become a victim of that success, with reports suggesting that they went their separate ways in September.

A source told The Sun: “Jack and Gemma secretly pulled the plug on their relationship, but remain good friends.

“For the past couple of years, they’ve both been finding it difficult to make proper time for one another, and, with their schedules showing no signs of slowing down, have decided to go their separate ways.

“It’s sad but they remain supportive of one another.”

The news of the split emerges in what has been a rough couple of weeks for some of the nation’s best-loved TV stars.

Earlier this month, Peter Kay announced that he was cancelling all the dates on his upcoming ‘Dance For Life’ UK stand-up tour.

The 44-year-old cited “unforeseen family circumstances” as the reason, but has yet to elaborate further.

And it was reported today that Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? legend Chris Tarrant has appeared in court charged with drink-driving.

It’s been said that the 71-year-old was pulled over by police in Berkshire while driving a £60,000 Mercedes.
